Maggie finished reading the Old Testament! I am so proud of her. We had been so busy that we hadn't been reading together. We had to do a lot of reading on our own. I'm not quite there yet but she is done! I am so proud of her.
Next year's Seminary is dedicated to the New Testament. We decided as a family to read it together. We are going to read 1 chapter each day. We should be done before school ends. Maggie will probably read it by herself as well.

Scripture Reading w/Rosie
The youth in our church take a religion class daily during High School, called Seminary. It is at 6 AM, Monday through Friday.
My middle daughter, Rosie, just finished her first year. G & T were also in the class. They studied the Old Testament. She memorized the 25 "Scripture Mastery" scriptures. She attended 100% of the time. I am really proud of her for her achievements.
Before she started High School I told her she would not have an option about going. I really thought I would have to fight her a little bit about going . . . I didn't. Although she really didn't know many of the other students she had a really good time.
The only thing that she wasn't happy about was that she did not read the Old Testament. She decided that this summer she & I would read it. We started reading right after school ended. We set up a schedule to read 15 chapters per day. We were going to read 5 chapters every morning, every afternoon and again every evening (Mon - Sat). On Sunday we were going to read 5-10 chapters and do any catch-up that we needed to do. It would take us almost right up until school begins in August.
We started out taking turns reading but found that we spent too much time discussing pronunciation and other things. We ended up downloading an audio version and using it in our study. We are about 10 chapters behind due missing a few reading times. We have also changed to not reading together in the afternoon and doing that "time slot" by ourselves.
Here we are this morning during our Scripture Study time, taken with the webcam on my computer. We are in Numbers and really happy about how quickly we are getting through this.
We have already decided that we will read the New Testament while she is attending the class. I also invited Essie to read with us starting in September. Essie isn't particularly excited about reading the Old Testament, although she is often in the room when we are reading.
